BREAKING: Sadiq Khan has stopped asking for money
He’s refusing to say what he asked Labour to give him, after spending years asking for billions from the Conservative Government. Londoners are losing out.
Mayor’s Question Time this week presented another opportunity to sit Sadiq Khan down and take him to task.
KHAN DEFENDS REEVES’ BUDGET
Finally, a politician prepared to stand up and defend Rachel Reeves’ disastrous budget! Asked this week at Question Time by City Hall Conservatives Leader Neil Garratt AM about Khan’s requests of the Chancellor, all the Mayor seemed able to do was repeat Labour talking lines. Why has Sadiq Khan stopped making big public announcements asking for money? What did he ask the Labour Government to give him in the Budget? Will Sadiq ever get through a difficult question without resorting to a monologue? Watch:

LS Events, a company that was bidding for City Hall contracts at the time. Asked by Emma whether Sadiq Khan knew this, and the obvious conflict of interest this presents, all the Mayor could tell us was that he hadn’t been briefed on the question. Funny how he needs a briefing to tell him what he remembers - do you believe him?
GET INVESTMENT INTO LONDON, FOR THE BENEFIT OF OUR AMAZING CITY
Sadiq Khan was very quick to tell us what he thought about the election of Donald Trump in the US, and how London would always be a safe & inclusive city. Interesting that he didn’t feel the need to do this when Putin won…
Asked by Alessandro Georgiou AM this week whether he would work with incoming President Trump to secure top investment into London, the Mayor appeared to climb down from his lofty position and say that he would indeed. Time will tell.
WILL OXFORD STREET EVER BE PEDESTRIANISED?
We also heard this week about the Mayor’s plans to pedestrianise Oxford Street. Asking the Officers responsible, Susan Hall AM discussed how the plans are facing legal challenges which could delay it for years. The question was simple: when does the Mayor expect pedestrianisation to be completed? If only the answer was as straightforward…
