A belated Happy New Year from us here at City Hall Conservatives, and we hope you and your family had a safe and blessed Christmas period. 2024 was a busy year for us here at City Hall, between the Mayoral Election and the General Election, and much has changed. However, as we go forth into 2025, we will continue fighting for the London we deserve and that we know Londoners believe in.
We’re revisiting some of our highlights of last year:
NEIL GARRATT AM TEARS THROUGH LABOUR’S DESTRUCTIVE BUDGET
In November, Labour treated us to their Budget, after spending weeks leaking it to the Press. What has followed since has been economic uncertainty and damage to the careful work that the Conservatives did to protect our economy from external shocks. Standing up to Labour, Neil Garratt AM delivered a withering attack on their economic illiteracy.
LORD BAILEY AM URGES ACTION ON KNIFE CRIME
Last year in London over 15,000 knife offences took place, and people are rightly concerned about the risk to themselves and others in our communities as a result of the growth in these crimes. Speaking to the Assembly, Lord Bailey AM took to his feet to deliver a passionate plea for Assembly Members to listen, take action, and get serious about what needs to be done to tackle the scourge of knife crime.
CITY HALL CONSERVATIVES STAND UP FOR FARMERS
Farmers are vital to putting food on our tables, including the Christmas dinners we’ve all been enjoying. Whilst they work around the year to provide for us, Labour thought they’d repay the favour by punitively taxing them in their pursuit of class warfare. City Hall Conservatives took to the Assembly to call on the Mayor to oppose this disastrous and cruel tax. We think Susan Hall AM put it best in her opening remarks:
MOST WATCHED MOMENTS OF 2024
We’re very grateful to all the support we’ve received online this year as we continue in our mission scrutinising the Labour Mayor of London. As we look back over 2024 we’ve put together some of our biggest moments from the Assembly, as we stood up for Londoners and their concerns. Thank you for all the support you’ve given us this year and we look forward to carrying on the fight for London this year!
