KHAN REFUSES TO SAY WHETHER THERE ARE GROOMING GANGS IN LONDON
It must be a day ending in "Y", because the Mayor is squirming out of questions... again!
The Mayor of London Sir Sadiq Khan was back in front of us this week answering questions put to him by Assembly Members, and characteristically continued to dodge the difficult and uncomfortable ones raised by the Conservatives. Read on to find out more about what Sadiq Khan hasn’t been doing this week:
“I’M AFRAID I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE QUESTION” - SADIQ KHAN ON GROOMING GANGS
As a national conversation continues regarding grooming gangs and the untold harm done to our young people, City Hall Conservatives Member Susan Hall AM took the issue directly to the Mayor to ask whether we had grooming gangs here in London. His response? To claim that he didn’t know what grooming gangs were, rather than answer the question. Watch his shameful excuse for a response:
TFL WANT TO BUILD ON PARKLAND - CITY HALL CONSERVATIVES DON’T AGREE
London’s historic parks are vital green lungs for our city and provide valuable opportunities for Londoners to access green spaces. TfL doesn’t seem to agree, which is why they’re pushing for Enfield to release greenbelt land at the historic Trent Park to build up to 10,000 homes. We were astounded. Alessandro Georgiou AM went straight to the Mayor to ask him to commit to protecting London’s parks. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the Mayor wanted to make that promise:
THOMAS TURRELL AM TO COMPLETE 150-MILE CHARITY WALK ACROSS LONDON
The London Outer Orbital Path (“LOOP”) is the 150-mile ring of greenbelt space around our city, starting in Erith and ending in Purfleet. As Labour pushes to redesignate greenbelt spaces as “greybelt” so that they can be built on, this space is under threat. As a result, this Easter Thomas Turrell AM will be walking the 150-mile route in 7 days to raise awareness of the rich green spaces we have in London and raise money for a number of charities. Watch the launch video now - and watch this space for more updates on how you can support Thomas!
KEITH PRINCE AM ASKS KHAN: WILL LONDON GET DEVOLVED RAIL?
As the Labour Government continues with their plans to reshuffle local and regional government, questions are increasingly being asked at City Hall about the Mayor’s own timetable for devolving control of the railways in London - meaning that the Mayor would take control of some suburban rail services in London. This is also in light of Sir Keir’s plans to nationalise rail. Keith Prince AM got straight to the point: the timetable has stalled, when can Londoners expect to see devolved rail - if at all?
