Plenary this week brought us the opportunity to raise issues important to Londoners across our amazing city - but Labour and the Greens had other ideas.
LABOUR LAUGHS AS THE CONSERVATIVES BATTLE AGAINST FAMILY FARM TAX
Susan Hall AM this week introduced a motion to Plenary calling on the Mayor of London to lobby against Labour’s disastrous Family Farm Tax on agricultural inheritance. As Susan speaks however you can actually hear the Labour Group laughing at the proposal - and they went on to vote against it in partnership with the Green Party. We won’t stop fighting for our farmers, but there’s simply no respect from Labour.
FINGERS IN THEIR EARS OVER THEIR ECONOMIC INCOMPETENCE
Neil Garratt AM brought forward a motion regarding the economic illiteracy shown by the Chancellor at the Budget, calling to reverse the rise in Employer’s National Insurance Contributions. Highlighting how these rises would negatively affect Londoners, Labour simply refused to believe it was possible. Listen to Neil’s speech:
LORD BAILEY PLEADS FOR ASSEMBLY MEMBERS TO TAKE KNIFE CRIME SERIOUSLY
This week the City Hall Conservatives also suggested we hold a Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Knife Crime. Speaking passionately about the subject, Lord Bailey AM took to the floor of the Assembly to ask other Assembly Members to take the issue seriously and back measures such as stop and search to prevent the scourge of knife crime.
