Labour votes down vital nightlife report
Emma Best AM tried to fight for our nighttime economy - Labour shut her down.
Our industry-led report into London’s nightlife featured 10 key recommendations to help revitalise our amazing city and repair the damage that has been wreaked on its nightlife under Sadiq Khan and former failed Night Czar Amy Lamé. Labour doesn’t want to hear it though!
MAKING THE CASE FOR OUR NIGHTTIME ECONOMY…
At the Economy Committee this week Emma Best AM’s industry-led nightlife report came up for consideration. We had previously raised this in a motion at Plenary, but Labour then tried to bury it by referring the matter to the Committee. Emma Best AM turned up on Monday evening to set out the case for her report and the need to desperately help businesses struggling under a Labour Mayor and now a Labour Government too. OFFICIALS UNABLE TO SAY HOW MUCH ULEZ BAD DEBT WILL BE RECOVERED
At Budget this week, Alessandro Georgiou AM took the Mayor’s officers to task over unpaid ULEZ fines, which have hit more than £375m and represent the majority of TfL’s bad debt. Asking about how much of this debt they expect to recover, and what provisions exist around ULEZ bad debt, the answers were less than satisfactory:

Over at People’s Question Time in Battersea this week the Mayor was happy to sing his praises about what a fantastic job he thought he was doing. We were very happy to correct the record and wake him up from the fantasy. Asked about Pay-Per-Mile, the Mayor ruled it out categorically - but Neil Garratt AM was very quick to remind him that he only ruled it out because the Conservatives held him to account and made the whole scheme politically toxic.
