MAYOR’S QUESTION TIME - KHAN DODGES AND DIVES
For once, will he ever just answer the question as it’s put to him?
This week was Mayor’s Question Time, which means a chance for us to put the questions of the day to Sir Sadiq Khan directly and press him for answers. No surprises for guessing how many direct answers we got.
WHEN WILL KHAN ADMIT HE’S FAILED ON PHONE THEFT?
Did you know the Mayor’s Police and Crime draft plan is 16,000 words long? Despite this, there isn’t a single mention of “bike theft” at all. Phone theft gets just a few measly lines. Meanwhile, Londoners every day, every hour, lose belongings to thieves that snatch them out of their hands - and the Mayor just doesn’t seem to care. Watch Sadiq try to insist he’s doing a great job when asked by Neil Garratt AM:
WHY CAN’T SADIQ COME CLEAN ABOUT TAYLOR SWIFT TICKETS?
He’s under investigation for taking tickets to go see Taylor Swift last Summer, but Sadiq Khan refuses to let the press see the documents relating to the potential conflict of interest. Has he got something to hide? Emma Best AM asked the Mayor the question we’re all wondering - does he really think Londoners will believe him when he says that releasing the documents relating to his dealings with LS Events is a “national security” threat?
ALESSANDRO GEORGIOU AM: LABOUR’S EMERGENCY BUDGET IS DESTROYING LONDON
Business confidence in our capital is at an all time low under Khan’s disastrous mayoralty - and Labour’s awful Government is just making it worse. London is a city that can and should succeed - and yet Labour’s awful budget has wrecked much of the hard work Londoners have done to build businesses. With the Emergency Budget around the corner, Alessandro Georgiou AM asks: when will the Mayor get serious about standing up for London?
TFL SPENDS HOW MUCH ON UNIONS ORGANISING?
The transport unions have brought London to a standstill on countless occasions, despite Sadiq Khan’s promises to be a “Zero Strikes Mayor”. As the union bosses demand ever-higher wages for train drivers - and more recently, priority access to social housing! - the cost of facility time to TfL balloons. Facility Time is the paid leave given to trade unionists in order for them to organise - and TfL spends £7.9m a year on it for the union barons blocking our rail network.
